BlackBoard 9 - Add a Discussion Forum

This page describes how to add a Discussion Forum to BlackBoard. A Discussion Forum can be used for students to discuss a given topic, or share ideas. If the Discussion Board has already been created follow the directions under Follow directions from here if the Discussion Board has already been created. If the Discussion Board has not yet been created follow the directions under Follow directions from here if the Discussion Board has not been created yet.

Select the course you wish to add a Discussion Forum to
In the left menu, click on the page you wish to add a Discussion Forum to
- Note: You can only add a Discussion Forum to content area such as "Information" and "Content."
Once in the content area, click on Tools in the upper menu
Select Discussion Board

Follow directions from here if the Discussion Board has already been created.

Select "Select a Discussion Board Forum"
Select the Discussion Forum you wish to link
Click Next
Fill in the name and any additional information of the link
Click Submit

Follow directions from here if the Discussion Board has not been created yet.

Click Create New Forum
Fill in the Name and any additional information of the Discussion Board
Click Submit
Select Select a Discussion Board Forum
Click the Forum that was just created
Click Next
Fill in the Name and any additional information of the link
Click Submit

Select the course you wish to add a Discussion Forum to
In the left menu, click on the page you wish to add a Discussion Folder to
- Note: You can only add a content folder to content area such as "Information" and "Content."

Click on Tools in the upper menu

Follow directions from here if the Discussion Board has already been created. If the Discussion Board has not yet been created, scroll down till you see Follow directions from here if the Discussion Board has not been created yet. Then follow the directions from here.
